Harsh Chhaya: The satisfaction of pursuing what one loves far outweighs the setbacks
Actor Harsh Chhaya who was last seen in the web show Gyaarah Gyaarah, says that while acting can be challenging, it is the career of his dreams and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He adds that it is important to not miss the joy that your dream profession brings with it just because of the challenges.
“Acting is my chosen career, and the satisfaction of pursuing what one loves far outweighs the setbacks. Successes are certainly a bonus, but even the misses don’t overshadow the joy of doing what you’re passionate about,” he says.
He adds, “There are times when I feel like discussing setbacks, and other times I prefer to move on without dwelling on them. Ultimately, I prefer to leave the past behind and move forward.”
Ask him what is the best part of being associated with the industry, and what is the worst, and he says, “Since I work on my own terms, I only take up projects I enjoy. I’ve rarely had to work solely for money, and so far, I’ve resisted the power struggles that many in the industry try to impose. I came to Mumbai with no real understanding of how the industry worked, and I’m content with how things have turned out. Waiting for the right offer has become second nature, so taking 4-5 months or more each year to find the right project no longer feels like a challenge. The best part of my job is being able to do what I’ve always wanted. The worst part is the unwanted public attention on my personal life, but I understand that it comes with the territory.”
However, he admits that becoming an actor needs honesty and hard work. “It’s essential to maintain control over habits like diet, late nights, alcohol, and comparing your career to others. These are distractions that can be avoided. A genuine desire to act with sincerity is key. If you focus on that, the rest will follow,” he says.
