Nargis Fakhri is over the moon due to thunderous response to Rockstar’s re-release: ‘Feels like I made my debut again’
‘Rockstar’, which re-released in theatres alongside ‘Tamasha’, ‘Jab We Met’ and other new releases as well, has been getting tremendous response. Reacting to the same, Nargis Fakhri aka Heer has expressed her happiness over the overwhelming response from the fans. The film, which made its way to the theatres again after over 12 years of its release in 2011, has managed to rake in Rs 1.10 crore through its two week run at the box office in India. In fact, in 14 days, the film has been consumed by over 1 lakh people. Interestingly, the exhibitors are continuing with ‘Rockstar’ in the 3rd week too.
“The response to the re-release of ‘Rockstar’ has made me very emotional. I wish I could enjoy the response in person! To be honest, people’s love for the film has taken me back in time when the film had released for the first time. And over 12 years later, seeing people respond to the film in this manner, it feels like it is my debut again. When we were working on the film, we didn’t know we were making a cult classic that would age like a fine wine. I still get DMs from fans about how the film resonated with them. Time has flown but the emotions that the film evoked back then have remained the same. I am super honoured that I am a part of such a film,” Nargis shared.
The Imtiaz Ali film has ended the dry spell in theatres that didn’t see enough footfalls despite new releases. The response to the film has proven that the film, which did a lifetime business of around Rs 69 crore, has aged well.
