Debattama Saha seeks inspiration from Phogat Sisters & Shooter Dadis for her upcoming role in ‘Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani’

Star Plus is all set to launch a new show ‘Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahan’ starring Karanvir Sharma (Shaurya Sabharwal) and Debattama Saha (Anokhi Bhalla) in lead roles. Set up in Punjab, the show focuses on the story of an ordinary girl with big dreams who faces various challenges in the dominant patriarchal and chauvinistic society.

Debattama as Anokhi Bhalla shares traits of a woman with substance and her seeking inspiration from the Phogat Sisters and Shooter Dadis set a perfect example for her on-screen character.

The Phogat Sisters and Shooter Dadis have contributed a lot to change the mindset and attitude of society towards girls and women not only around them but in the whole country.

These real-life personalities are icons of women empowerment-quite literally and their success stories are inspiring other women to take on social issues that are still prevalent in today’s society. Similarly, Debattama has been inspired by these women and hopes to send out a strong message through her on-screen performance.

Commenting on the same Debattama Saha who is gearing up for her upcoming role, says “I really admire the Phogat Sisters and Shooter Dadis. They are an inspiration – breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations. When I was approached to essay the role of Anokhi in the show, I drew inspiration from these women simply because they set perfect examples for women all over the world by the way they picked up the strength and courage to overcome all challenges thrown at them by the dominant patriarchal society. I hope viewers will connect with my character in the show and continue to shower me with their love as I embark on this new journey as Anokhi Bhalla.”
