DIRECTOR CHRIS SANDERS REVEALS PEDRO PASCAL’S MISCHIEVOUS SPIN ON FINK DURING THE WILD ROBOT’S RECORDING SESSIONS
Mumbai, 8th October 2024: Get ready to embark on a captivating visual journey as The Wild Robot is all set to hit theaters across India on October 18th. Adapted from Peter Brown’s award-winning #1 New York Times bestseller, the upcoming animated film, brought to life by Universal Pictures (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery), promises to resonate with audiences across demographics. Directed by three-time Oscar nominee Chris Sanders, The Wild Robot is voiced by a star-studded cast boasting Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, Mark Hamill, and Stephanie Hsu. With its stunning animation and heartfelt storytelling, this highly anticipated release is set to deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience, bringing the beloved tale of survival, friendship, and adventure to life like never before.
The Wild Robot follows the story of Roz, short for ROZZUM Unit 7134, voiced by Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, a robot stranded on a deserted forest island, initially without purpose. However, her journey takes a transformative turn when she discovers a goose egg and instinctively begins to nurture the hatchling inside. As Roz forms bonds with the island’s animals, Roz evolves from a mere machine into a loving caretaker and friend.
While The Wild Robot features an outstanding cast, director Chris Sanders sheds some light on behind-the-scenes insights about Pedro Pascal’s recording for his character, Fink. He reveals how Pascal’s performance added new dimensions to Fink that weren’t initially apparent in the script, enriching both the character and the story. Sanders shares, “Pedro’s portrayal brought out an impish quality in Fink, almost like a mischievous child at times,” He adds, “He started delivering his lines with a blend of toughness, cleverness, and an occasional childlike curiosity, which allowed this hint of innocence to come through in the character. This new angle really resonated with Pedro, and he said that Fink felt more like himself than many other roles that he’d played.”
Follow Roz, the robot protagonist, as she sets out on a roller-coaster ride through the wild in The Wild Robot, releasing in theatres near you on October 18!
