Indore Management Association organized its New WebEx Webinar Live session series, Unfolding Secrets: THE IMA Way on the topic “Being Ready for Tomorrow by Making the right Choices Today” on Monday, May 04, 2020. Speaker for the session was Mr. Harvinder singh – Country Manager – United Airlines & Director – United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd.
Mr. Harvinder Singh is Country Manager India for United Airlines. In this role, which he assumed in 2011, Singh is responsible for managing the commercial business of United Airlines in India and spearheads key functional areas including Sales, Marketing, Reservations and Contact Centre operations.
Harvinder Singh is also Director of United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc. in India that provides back end analytical support to United Airlines Inc. Prior to joining United Airlines, Singh worked for Lufthansa German Airlines. Singh holds a Master’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Singh started the session by stating that; this situation will go & we will be back. We still have control to do lot of things apart from going outside & meeting friends & colleagues.
He said that people are now Longsightedness, they are figuring out what business is going to be impacted. They are trying to adapt future, assessing the situation & trying to reach to a reasonable estimate that what kind of recovery we will do.
Most important thing is the safety for every individual & for every corporate. So, we at airlines industry are figuring out various questions answers like;
- How the customers can be kept safe in near future
- How seats can be arranged to maintain the distancing from one passenger to other. The business will come but not definitely so soon.
- How crew members can be minimized
- In cleaning, we play a major role so we will be using the air filters, air circulation equipment where air will be 99% germs free. Customer focus remains the paramount so to maintain the physical distance between each passenger, we are making strategies that how the things to be implemented. Nature of demand tomorrow will definitely change what is today.
Further for the students he gave the message that:
- Try to learn new things.
- Read as much as possible.
- Try to do something different.
- Don’t waste your time in sleeping or being lazy at home.
- Try to do things for your physical development.
- Try to be in touch with your peers, teachers, colleagues not to lose the connection between each other.
- Look after the alternative business opportunities or different business, markets.
- So many people who have been impacted. The disposable money will be very less. Travelling on leisure will not come back first.
- People may not be ready for the leisure.
- People will not be going to conduct conventions very soon.
- Corporate traffic will not increase so fast.
- Things will change for the better
- Make a schedule & work on it & don’t sit for a long time for a single thing & Stick to your schedule.
- Try to stick in positive thoughts.
- Save money.
- Keep your head high, meditate yourself & balance yourself.
