Medkart’s dedicated digital platform for discovering and buying generic medicines now in Hindi and Gujarati too!

The platform showcases and retails 4,000+ drug molecules covering 99.9% of therapies

Ahmedabad, November 21, 2022: With a view to make more people become aware about generic medicines, expand the reach of generics, and help people buy them and try them, Medkart, a leading omni-channel retailer of generic medicines in India, has now launched its dedicated digital platforms for generic medicines in two regional languages: Hindi and Gujarati. Earlier this year, Medkart launched two dedicated online platforms – a portal and an Android-supported mobile application that helps consumers discover, know about, and even purchase generic medicines. Now all the content on these platforms will be available in Hindi as well as Gujarati.

The easy-to-navigate platforms offer information and enable consumers to choose the most affordable alternative from across 4,000+ drug molecules, now in vernacular languages. Medkart is also working on converting Video FAQs to Hindi and Gujarati languages on its two platforms.

Explaining the initiative of offering content in regional languages, Ankur Agarwal, co-founder, Medkart, said, “While English is the language of the world and helps any platform gain a wider reach, there is no alternative to vernacular languages in case you intend to penetrate the hinterlands. We, at Medkart, understood that the biggest challenge in acceptance of generics is the lack of awareness. Therefore, we have taken this upon ourselves to spread the awareness of generics and clear the myths as much as possible. Even if you will see the content on our website, it is majorly dedicated towards explaining the quality and importance of generics.”

According to Medkart’s insights, at least 90% of customers who are aware of and intrigued by generic medicines tend to adopt generics. On the other hand, even a significant 40% of walk-in customers who are told about generic medicines tend to adopt them later.

“Therefore, creating more awareness will surely enable Medkart to help reduce medicine bills of customers. Being an omni-channel pharmacy Medkart delivers quality generic medicines across India. However, a majority of our business comes from Gujarat and other Hindi-speaking states. Therefore, when going to provide regional language access to the world of generic medicines, we started with these two languages. We will analyse the feedback on acceptance of our platform in regional languages and plan for the remaining later,” Agarwal further went on to say.

Medkart’s two platforms for generic medicines are not just aimed at retailing generic medicines but instead, they also help a consumer understand what generics are, discover generic alternatives to medicines prescribed to them and even compare prices to make an informed decision. The omni-channel retailer has 100+ successfully running retail outlets across Western India, and the platform as well as mobile application are natural extensions to its retail business and its thorough know-how of making available WHO-GMP certified generic medicines to its customers, cutting across 99.9% of therapies.

Taking forward its journey, Medkart’s e-commerce foray by strengthening and enhancing its digital presence, will expand its reach to major Indian cities. The platforms will also help deliver quality, affordable generic medicines across all major metro cities on the same day and within a gap of three to five days for other Indian cities.
