PIEMR to set up solar incubation center to promote startups in solar energy
Signs MoU with Energy Swaraj Foundation
Indore: The Prestige Institute of Engineering Management and Research, Indore has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Energy Swaraj Foundation for setting up a Solar Incubation Center at the institute.
PIEMR Director Dr Manoj Kumar Deshpande who signed a MoU on behalf of the institute with the Energy Swaraj Foundation founder Prof Chetan Singh Solanki, said the solar incubation center at the institute has primarily been aimed at providing infrastructure and other facilities, technical know how to startups in the field of solar energy.
While hosting the Energy Swaraj Yatra which arrived in the city on Tuesday in the first leg of its Madhya Pradesh tour, to encourage people towards adopting solar energy across the country and mitigate the adverse effect of the climate change, Dr Deshpande said that apparently impressed by the underlying message of this yatra, the PIEMR has also taken a pledge to convert its library into off grid through 5 KW solar photovoltaic power.
Prof. Chetan Singh during the course of his interactions with the PIEMR faculties and media said because of our increased dependency on electricity consumption, temperature of our ecosystem is increasing day by day. “If we do not control this consumption timely, we would not be able to reverse this effect. So it’s essential to switch on use of solar energy’’, he said.
adding that the very purpose of this Energy Swaraj Yatra is to create an awareness among people about the ill effects of global warming and rising temperature of our ecosystem and encourage them to switch to renewable energy like solar energy for fulfilling 100% energy needs.
CEO, Atal Incubation Center-Prestige Inspire Foundation, Sanjeev Patni CEO AIC elaborated on the role of government and public to promote such noble initiatives. Earlier, the Energy Swaraj Yatra upon its arrival in Indore was accorded a ceremonial welcome by staff and faculties of the Prestige Institute of Engineering Management and Research. The Yatra had been flagged off by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal a few days back.
