Producer Chitra Vakil Sharma makes her first trip to Kolkata on Durga Puja, calls it colorful and vibrant
Producer Chitra Vakil Sharma, who has produced projects like Tandoor, Rakthanchal, Bhram, and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, to name some, has visited Kolkata for the first time, and she says she is lucky to be there during the grand occasion of Durga Puja. She said, “This is my very first visit to Kolkata, and I always wanted to attend Durga Puja in Kolkata. Kolkata is colorful and vibrant, and the pandals are a visual treat.”
“I am visiting Kolkata with my friends Tina Chawla, owner of Mint Salon, Powai, and Sukshita Shetty. I am looking forward to Sindoor khela with famous Bengali actress Pallavi Chatterjee and being the guest of honor at a pandal here,” she added.
Being in Kolkata, she is reminded of Ramleela and Ravan Dahan. She added, “From the time I started celebrating Navratri, I started doing fast and kanjak puja.”
Chitra also mentioned that she is very keen to enter the Bangla industry and has been interacting regularly there. “I need that one script to zero down and start work. I find the language extremely sweet, and the content is very intelligent. I have acquired a few rights also to Bengali films. Let’s see how that shapes up in the near future,” she said.
“Currently two shows are on air running successfully, one on Sony Liv Pehle Pyaar Less than One Chance and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas just completed 100 episodes,” she added.
She also shared that Bollywood has always portrayed Durga Puja festivals with grandeur and power; however, one that stood out for her was Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani.
“I’m really fascinated by the climax scene. It is so strong and shot so well that it makes a woman strong and determined about what she wants to achieve. It shows she is a Shakti,” she ended.
