Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor: Karan Gulianii
Director Karan Gulianii, who is known for projects like Amrinder Gill, Ranjit Bawa-starrer Sarvann, which was produced under Priyanka Chopra’s banner, and Amritsar Chandigarh Amritsar, starring Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta, says it will be a dream come true if he gets to work with Shah Rukh Khan.
Speaking on the occasion of the superstar’s birthday, which falls on November 2, he said, “Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor; he’s much more than that. He has given so many unforgettable performances. For example, his role in Swades—I’ve probably watched that movie at least 50 times, and I could easily watch it 50 times more. Although I’m not an actor myself, his stories have inspired me deeply. They made me realize that I want to tell such impactful stories, and by God’s grace, if I ever get the blessing of working with him, it would be a dream come true.”
“Shah Rukh Khan has this charisma that brings magic to every director’s work, and it’s something I would love to experience. It’s like they say, ‘a big wish from someone very small’—I know it’s a big dream, and I’m just a tiny part of this industry. But I believe every director dreams of having Shah Rukh Khan in their film, and I am no different. I also wish for the same, but let’s see when and how it happens—or even if it does. Only time will tell,” he added.
While he admires SRK for his work, Karan stressed that Gauri Khan is one of the main reasons behind his success beside his hard work. “I don’t know Shah Rukh Khan personally, but from what I’ve heard and read, one of the biggest strengths in his life is his wife, Gauri. He loves her with a devotion that’s truly inspiring,” he said.
“Recently, I read somewhere that they’ve been married for 33 years, and even after all this time, you can still see that romance in his eyes when he looks at her—and the same love shines in her eyes for him. Their bond feels so genuine, and it’s beautiful to witness. Gauri has been his rock, his biggest support system, and I believe that has played a huge role in his success beside the hard work he puts in a film,” he added.
Karan also mentioned that it’s the superstar’s authenticity that makes him stand out. “He’s real, down to earth, and has this incredible quality of being completely genuine. I think these traits—being romantic, genuine, and real—are his greatest strengths. Even when he will be hundred, he’ll probably still be just as charming and romantic as he is today. For me, this is truly remarkable,” he said.
“I don’t think Shah Rukh Khan could ever really experience a ‘down’ phase in life. He belongs in that rare league of icons like Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, and Raj Kapoor—legends who have left a lasting legacy. It’s hard to even imagine the word ‘down’ in association with him because he just radiates joy and positivity.May God keep him at the top, bless him with good health, and may he continue to teach us about love and romance across all generations,” he added.
Karan, who has watched movies like Swades, Dear Zindagi, and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) over a gazillion times, wished Shah Rukh on his birthday and said, “It would be a dream come true to work with him someday if I’m truly fortunate. Thank you, sir, and God bless you.”
