Shekhar Kapur’s Intuitive Filmmaking Journey Unveiled: How Masoom Marked the Beginning of a Visionary Career

Shekhar Kapur, the visionary filmmaker, came into the limelight with his directorial debut, Masoom. Recently he revealed that Masoom was his first foray into filmmaking, devoid of any prior experience or formal training. Remarkably, he relied solely on his intuition, crafting the film with raw emotion as his guiding force.

The auteur recently also tweeted stating , “#masoom was my first film. I had not assisted not learnt filmmaking, I made the film completely intuitively .. just making sure that I was telling the story as emotionally as I could ..but I had so much support from the actors, from my team and from Gulzar and RD Burman.”

The visionary filmmaker was recently honored with the esteemed “Lifetime Contribution to UK-India Relations” award at the IGF’s UK-India Awards. Adding to his accomplishments, he also received several accolades. Kapur’s What’s Love Got to Do With it? received 9 award nominations and won 4, including Best Director and Best Film, at the National Film Awards in the UK.

Shekhar Kapur is currently busy with various projects, one of which involves working on the music score for the highly anticipated film ‘Masoom: The Next Generation.
