The Indian film industry has a significant influence on global tourism: Jason Tham
Jason Tham, who has been part of films like Happy New Year, Happy Bhag Jayegi, and Rocket Gang, as well as the web series Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, among others, and will soon be seen in Honeymoon Photographer, says that the Indian film industry is known for shooting in various parts of the world, which increases awareness about different countries.
Speaking on the occasion of World Tourism Day, observed on September 27, he said, “I’ve seen Shah Rukh Khan’s films shot in Switzerland, like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and as a young boy, I aspired to go there. I eventually did visit as an adult with my friends. The Indian film industry has a significant influence on global tourism.”
He believes that audiences love watching picturesque locations and often feel inspired to visit places they see in their favorite TV shows or movies.
“The whole point of showcasing scenes from other countries is to attract the audience to those places or to evoke a sense of nostalgia,” he said.
When asked if he had traveled to a place after seeing it on screen, Jason said, “I went to Corsica, France, after watching Ranbir Kapoor’s film Tamasha.”
