GANDHI DHOTI CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
The centennial year of the Mahatma to ‘change his attire to dhoti’ was celebrated.
Commemorating this occasion year, Ramraj Cotton organised a grand event ‘Dhoti 100’ at Tirupur. 100 martyrs and 100 weavers were honoured and 100 saplings were planted on the occassion. Dancers from Kalasketra Foundation, Chennai performed a traditional dance drama on ‘GandhiyaVazhiyilRamRaj’.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. K.R. Nagarajan, Managing Director of Ramraj Cotton. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. K.R. Nagarajan said “we have transformed the ‘Attire of the Mahatma’ into a symbol of our ‘National Attire and Identity’.
Mr. K.R. Nagarajan also said “pursuing our mission we are passionately and consciously enriching the lives of 40,000 weavers by keeping the ‘wheel of excellence’ continuously spinning a world of fashion brands for 40 eventful years.
On this memorable occasion a book on “MahatmaavaiKondaduvom” was released by the Chief Guest of the function, Dr. B.K. KrishnarajVanavarayar, Chairman, BharatiyaVidyaBhavan, Coimbatore. The first copy of book was received by Mr. K. Ramasamy, Chairman, Roots Group of Companies, Coimbatore.
