“I just love the traditional Bengali Puja look, it is very classy and dignified”: Jaideep Singh
Actor Jaideep Singh, who is currently seen in the show Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, shares his Durga Puja memories with us. Jaideep was born and raised in Kolkata. Although he is not Bengali by birth, he has a deep connection with the culture and food. Sharing his memories of Durga Puja, he says, “All my Durga Puja memories are special, but if I had to pick my fondest one, it would be when my dad brought me a Dhoti Punjabi that I really wanted as a kid. I had seen it in a shop on my way to school. Here in Mumbai, I have only one Bengali friend, but we make sure to go out for darshan and offer a special pushpanjali on Ashtami every year.”
He also adds, “My preparation for Durga Puja is almost done. My friend Sanhita from Kolkata has sent me a dhoti from her brand, and I’ve bought a few kurtas in Mumbai. I just love the traditional Bengali Puja look; it’s classy and very dignified.”
Jaideep also shares his love for authentic Bengali food, which is common during Durga Puja. He says, “Bengali food, especially bhog, is divine, and I wait for it. I also love other delicacies like labra (mixed vegetables), payesh, radhaballobi (a special puri), and dum aloo. Though I miss Kolkata a lot, Mumbai has its own charm during Durga Puja. There are so many Bengalis participating, and the excitement and enthusiasm are only growing every year.”
