Madhya Pradesh hosts ‘Ease of Doing Business Conclave’

Bhopal: MP Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.(MPIDC) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a one-day conclave on Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) on 4th August 2023 at Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre (Minto Hall), Bhopal.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, GoMP in his inaugural address, conveyed that the conclave aimed to provide a platform for the industries and concerned departments to interact and plan their way forward for the simplification of procedures and reduction of the compliance burden. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Navneet Mohan Kothari, MD, MPIDC emphasized the importance of collaborative endeavours that will lead to industrial development in Madhya Pradesh and in-turn the country as a whole.

Madhya Pradesh has been among the leading states in the country in the implementation of EoDB initiatives. The state has taken-up new reforms such as exemption to industries from approvals and inspections for a period of three years, start your business in 30 days, decriminalisation of penal provisions under various acts and rules, etc. The state has also taken lead in the implementation of reforms introduced by the Government of India such as Business Reform Action Plan, Reducing Compliance Burden, On-boarding on the National Single Window System etc. and, has consistently featured among the top performing states on the EoDB parameters.

The conclave showcased the recent initiatives taken by the state government to improve the business climate and attract investments.The conclave hosted interactive sessions wherein, representatives from the industry could directly engage with various government departments such as NITI Aayog and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, State Departments from Panchayat & Rural Development, Urban Development & Housing, Energy, Department of Industrial Policy & Investment Promotion, Commercial Tax, Revenue, Labour, State Pollution Control Board, Food & Civil Supplies to MSME and other key departments offering crucial services for the functioning of the industries. The conclave also featured ‘EODB Clinics’ stalls and dedicated corners for each department where industries could seek guidance and problem resolution. In addition, the conclave provided a platform for knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination with the involvement of stalwarts from industries and senior officials from the government.

Rajendran, MD, MP Power Management Company Limited and Secretary, Energy Department, GoMP; Smt Supriya Devasthali Director, DPIIT, Government of India; Shri KVS Choudary, Deputy Secretary, Urban Development and Housing, GoMP; Shri Chandra Mohan Thakur, Member Secretary, MP Pollution Control Board; Shri Anurag Shirvastava, Former Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry; Shri Siddharth Agrawal, Chairman, CII Bhopal Zone enlightened the participants with key inputs on policy and industry updates. The conclave witnessed participation of more than 500 delegates from various sectors of the industry.

The conclave helped in enlightening the businesses about the initiatives taken at central and state level to improve the EoDB scenario and also provided an opportunity for feedback and suggestions from the industries to further streamline the business environment in Madhya Pradesh.
