Model created by a professor at Index Medical College, published in the Clinical Image and Medical Innovations competition of the Indian Journal of Medical Research
Creation of a new model of urinary bladder catheterization at Index Medical College, Hospital and Research Center
This model created by Dr. Rahul Tanwani can clearly show the internal process that takes place while a catheter is inserted into the urinary bladder
Indore- The doctors of the city’s reputed Index Medical College and Hospital are not only providing better treatment to the patients, but the faculties of the medical college have also been continuously making some unique and effective innovations for educating medical students.
In this series, a model created by Dr. Rahul Tanwani, Professor, Department of Surgery, Index Medical College, has been published in the Clinical Image and Medical Innovations competition of the Indian Journal of Medical Research.
Only 16 innovations have been published from across the country, including this innovation by Index Medical College. On this achievement, Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman, Index Group and Vice Chairman Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria have expressed their appreciation.
Dr. Rahul Tanwani, Professor, Department of Surgery, Index Medical College, said, “The uniqueness of this model is that it allows the students to clearly see the internal process that takes place while a catheter is inserted in patient’s urinary bladder. This demonstration trains them to avoid common mistakes during insertion and removal of a catheter in urinary bladder. Another special fact is that this model is prepared at a very low cost as compared to the other models”.
Dr. Tanwani has been using this effective and unique model to train the students of Index Medical College on catheterization for the past several years. This model, which is made from Plaster of Paris and thermocol, will surely make it easier for both the patients and the medical students to understand the process of catheterization.
