Special Celebrity Screening of “Love Is Love” Marks a Milestone in Indian LGBTQ+ Cinema
A special celebrity screening of Director Kapil Kaustubh Sharma’s groundbreaking film Love Is Love was held, featuring an impressive star cast including Kitu Gidwani, and Zarina Wahab. The film, which has already garnered international acclaim, is part of the Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun series—a trilogy that has won 13 international awards. It will also be the first Indian film to release on the popular international LGBTQ+ OTT platform, Dekkoo.
Prominent figures from the film industry and LGBTQ+ advocacy graced the event. Special guests included first Indian BBC news reader and Hollywood films casting director Dolly Thakore, legendary director Dharmesh Darshan (Dhadkan, Raja Hindustani), powerhouse performers like Navneet Nishaan and Lilliput, director Sanjay Sharma, Kashish Film Festival Director Saagar Gupta, and LGBTQ NGO Humsafar Chairmen Vivek Anand. Also in attendance were drag queen Nary Singh, Meghaa (daughter of Moushumi Chatterjee), author Nandita Puri with son Ishaan Puri (son of Om Puri), politician Jayesh Pandgale, Ananya Dutta, and many others who showed their support for the film.
Written and directed by Kapil Kaustubh Sharma and produced by Film House Production, Love Is Love features music by Zeenat Aman’s son Zahaan Khan and Nikhil Kamath. With its release on Dekkoo, the film is set to reach a global audience, promoting acceptance and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues. The evening’s screening highlighted the significance of the film, not just in terms of its cinematic achievements but also in advancing the discourse on love, inclusivity, and equal rights for all.
Director Kapil Kaustubh Sharma’s event featured several rarely-seen personalities, including RJ Anirudh Chawla, renowned photographer Vickky Idnani, and actors Sahila Chadda, Manish Chawla, Pratham Kunwar, Tejashvi, and Sultan Khan, all showing their support.
