Two Sidharth Malhotras In Vvaan? The Actor’s Contrasting Avatars Spark A Bigger Mystery

There is something interesting about the way Sidharth Malhotra has been presented in The Vvaan. On one side, we have the man who appears to belong to the contemporary world, walking into the forbidden forest. On the other, there is a dramatically different avatar that seems as though he has stepped straight out of the mythology surrounding Vvaan.

That contrast has sparked one big theory: could Sidharth be playing a double role?

The speculation isn’t coming out of nowhere. The two looks feel worlds apart in their visual language. One is in the film’s present-day narrative; the other has the unmistakable appearance of someone belonging to the ancient, supernatural world the film is building. If they are indeed two characters, Vvaan could be setting up a fascinating collision between the man who enters the forest and someone who may already belong to its legend.

But there is another possibility — what if they are not two different men at all?

The contrasting avatars could represent two points in the same character’s story. The Sidharth we see entering Vvaan could be the man we follow into the mystery, while the other look could reveal what that journey turns him into. In a folklore fantasy, where legends, supernatural forces and the present appear to intersect, that kind of transformation could carry far more weight than a conventional double role.

There is also the question of identity. If the second Sidharth does belong to Vvaan’s world, could he be someone whose story has been preserved as part of the forest’s folklore? And if so, why does he resemble the man who enters it?

The film has already established that Vvaan is not an ordinary forest. It has its own history, its own rules and a force powerful enough to inspire generations of warnings. Introducing two dramatically different versions of its leading man could be another way of signalling that its story operates across more than one timeline or perhaps more than one reality.

For now, the makers aren’t giving away the answer, which makes the speculation all the more fun.

Backed by some of the country’s most distinctive storytellers, The Vvaan brings together TVF’s Arunabh Kumar, director Deepak Mishra and Ektaa Kapoor for a commercial film that attempts to take Indian folklore into a new cinematic space. While its world is rooted in folklore and fantasy, the film brings together adventure, mystery and humour to shape itself as a complete family entertainer. The ambition extends beyond the film, with The Legend of Vvaan comic book already introducing audiences to the larger folklore surrounding its universe.

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, The Vvaan stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. Written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, with Manu Anand as DOP and Visual Director, the film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari.

The Vvaan arrives in cinemas on September 25, 2026, promising a big-screen fantasy folklore experience where the visuals, music, mystery and scale come together to create a world audiences will want to step into.
