Effect of yoga – seen on diabetes and blood pressure

City’s Diabetologist Dr. Bharat Saboo gets international recognition at the world’s largest diabetes and endocrinology conference

Madhya Pradesh: City-based Diabetologist Dr. Bharat Saboo prepared a research paper focused on the effect of Shavasana on diabetes and blood pressure. His research has been ranked in the Top 20 Research Papers at the International Conference of the European Society of Endocrinology. This conference is one of the world’s largest diabetes and endocrinology conferences. Let us tell you that Dr. Saboo did this research with Shweta Saboo and Dr. Hemant Sharma.

With this research, the effect of Shavasan was seen on blood sugar, blood pressure and sleep. Research has found that the sugar level and blood pressure are more balanced in diabetic patients who do Shavasana regularly. Along with this, the quality of sleep also improves.

Diabetes is a disorder that is largely affected by stress. This psychological stress affects the level of blood sugar in the body. Whereas the adverse effect of stress makes diabetes and blood pressure abnormal and leads to other side effects. COVID-19 has increased the level of psychological stress for many people. The reason for this is the ban on normal activities due to lockdown.

Psychological hazards such as anxiety and depression are linked to insomnia, fluctuating blood pressure and blood sugar values. Most of the people today are suffering from insomnia. Due to this, a decrease in immunity has also been observed. Dr. Saboo found in his research that regular practice of Shavasana has benefited in blood pressure and blood sugar in more than half of the patients. Whereas more than 70 percent of the people had lower levels of insomnia than the other group.

Breathing-based stress reduction techniques are beneficial to reduce stress and result in better sleep and lower fluctuations in blood sugar and blood pressure values. Such stress handling techniques require attention, as they can be a useful tool in reducing day-to-day stress and the resulting adverse effects.

In addition, improving sleep quality and sleep patterns promote better health and can reduce the stress on the body caused by insomnia and its adverse effects on immunity. Due to these results of this research, it has been given a place in the top 20 research papers in the international conference of the European Society of Endocrinology.

According to experts, more studies need to be done on various stress reduction techniques as well as practices like shavasana to see how these can be tied towards better health. This technique can act as a summative treatment. It can also reduce the burden of medicines and the adverse consequences.

The previous research of Dr. Bharat Saboo was also given the first prize at the national level last year by the Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India
