Trust your team for logistics and turn competitors into friends – FLO Indore Hosts Inspiring Session with SUTA sisters.

In line with its guiding theme “FLO with Purpose”, FLO Indore organized a truly memorable event under its Textile Skilling and Entrepreneurship initiative — The SUTA Event.

Over 250 enthusiastic members gathered to hear the heartfelt and honest story of sisters Sujata Biswas and Taniya Biswas, co-founders of the renowned handloom brand SUTA. What began in a humble room has blossomed into a celebrated name, partnering with numerous artisans and weavers across India, bringing sustainable livelihoods and preserving timeless craftsmanship.

The sisters shared their remarkable journey with no polished speeches, just raw, inspiring truths that left the audience smiling and filled with confidence.

From their childhood rooted in a modest family — their father a sub-inspector in Indian Railways — to village vacations where they watched weavers at work and shared simple meals, the seeds of SUTA were sown early. Their mother played a pivotal role, encouraging creativity with just two meters of cloth and the freedom to design. This love and inspiration from their mother created SUTA — a name blending their initials (Su + Ta)

After successful corporate careers, the sisters chose purpose over comfort in their late 20s. The brand truly soared during the challenging times of COVID, starting small with just a garage and two weavers. Young women proudly drape SUTA sarees to college, work, and gatherings, embracing tradition with modern ease and strong, confident vibes.

In an interactive and light-hearted session, Sujata and Taniya opened up about lessons like how they built a warm community called Suta Queens that thrives on genuine connection,
Learning from mistakes, embracing social media storytelling, innovating fearlessly, prioritizing sustainability and raw simplicity — staying true to their roots.

They chuckled about sisterly disagreements — resolved quickly as their mother taught: argue fiercely, then let it go by day’s end. On raising their children, they credited their supportive parents for passing on the same values they now live by. Every year, the sisters visit villages whose weaves they sell, sharing how deeply their work is loved.

Looking ahead, SUTA continues to expand — with its 19th store recently opened in Gurugram, plans for men’s wear, more retail presence, and even international steps like Mauritius. Their dream: to become a lasting legacy brand remembered for the positive impact two sisters created through dedication and heart.

The event was interactive, fun, and deeply purposeful. Members left enriched with practical wisdom on growth, teamwork, resilience, and turning small beginnings into something extraordinary.

Chairperson, FLO Indore, CA Shweta Agrawal said, FLO remains committed to inspiring women entrepreneurs through such meaningful events, proving that with purpose, hard work, and authenticity, dreams can weave a brighter future for many.
