Is Mrunal Thakur The New ‘Target’ for Trolls? Does Being an Outsider Make for an Easy Aim?

Mrunal Thakur has found herself all across the headlines for the wrong reasons this time. And the stint only highlights the aim of trolls – targeting an outsider without digging deep into the meaning behind the words. This is not the first time that an outsider has found itself caught in the public scrutiny, and it certainly won’t be the last time.

For those who enter the film industry without a family background or godfather – find it a bit more challenging to pave their way in the competitive world. Considering that Mrunal is a successful actress, the tag of an ‘outsider’ makes her an easy target for trolls to talk negatively about her. For an actress who has always been the strongest supporter of other self-made actresses and also values the efforts behind carving a film career, it only shows how one misguided view of the audience risks an actor’s public image.

Recently, audiences and viewers have assumed that Mrunal’s words are pointing towards an A-lister actress. On the contrary, it is equally essential to observe that Mrunal clearly did not name any actress nor any film. The whole stir on the internet is completely based on assumptions, and it shows the nature of social media. News headlines are accompanied by a ‘question mark’ and not a direct statement by Mrunal, indicating that the actress has not demeaned any celebrity.

At times when trolls have easily become the second language of social media, it throws light on the urgent need to know the full story behind every post, every statement.
