PIMR organizes 41st National Case Writing workshop
Indore: The Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR), Indore organized a three-day 41st National-level Case Writing workshop in association with the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS).
The workshop was attended by as many as 76 participants from management, commerce and law streams. They visited 22 organizations from diverse fields such as the hotel industry, food chain segment, cooperative sector in banking, paper box manufacturing industries, footwear industry etc., interacted with them primarily to decode their successes and failures so as to build their own knowledge and opinion in a contextual, social and interactive setting.
On the basis of their interactions with the representatives of the business organizations and startups, the participants drafted cases of each industry, they visited during the period of case writing workshop.
Dr. Yogeshwari Phatak, Director, PIMR, Indore said the objectives of the National Case Writing Workshop was to provide a platform to the participants from various streams to interact with the people from organization across various sectors of the economy and help them draft case study of various industries.
Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Associate Professor, PIMR, Indore said the Case Writing Workshop is being organized by the institute since 1994 twice a year, primarily to brief faculties, management students on case writing techniques so as to decode the successes and failures of startups, industries and prepare case studies of the same for the budding entrepreneurs and business managers. This helps the academicians and research scholars to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
Earlier, Dr. Prashant Mishra, Dean, New Initiatives and External Relations, IIM-Calcutta, who was the Resource Person of the workshop, in his inaugural address briefed the participants on the technicalities involved with case writing and drafting.
Informing participants about the history of case study, Dr. Mishra said the case study was first introduced in Medical sciences and law and later this concept was introduced in the Management and other Social Sciences. He also gave the necessary suggestions to the participants on case writing on industries and startups.
Dr. Sarfaraz Ansari and Pallavi Agarwal, Faculty Members, PIMR, Indore gave a talk on “Guidelines for submission of cases at the Case Centre”.
PIMR, Indore director, Dr. Yogeshwari Phatak while welcoming the participants said the use of cases always add to students’ abilities to generate multiple pathways for certain circumstances and it may vary from situations to situations.
The inaugural session of the workshop was also attended by Dr. R. K. Sharma, Director (I/C), PIMR (UG Programme), Indore. Dr. Harsha Jariwala coordinated the workshop.
