Mantra’s short film Rat in the Kitchen to release soon
Mantra who stars as the lead actor in the short film Rat in the Kitchen is expected to be released soon on a popular streaming platform, and the audience is eagerly waiting to see Mantra’s award-winning performance. Directed by the debutant director Arkish Aftab, Rat in the Kitchen follows the life of Vikram, played by Mantra, who turns to drinking after discovering his wife’s infidelity. However, his life takes a bizarre turn when he finds his kitchen ransacked repeatedly and installs CCTV cameras in the house, thinking he has a pest problem. But what he discovers is beyond his wildest imagination.
Mantra has won the Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in the short film ‘Rat in the Kitchen’ at the 13th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival.
“Rat in the Kitchen has been one of the most mind bending films I have had the chance to work on. The story of a man going through bouts of loneliness has some surreal experiences being home alone. Our Writer director Arkish has brought alive his vision splendidly along with our cinematographer Yash Kamat. Thanks to producers Afroz and Purvi for getting us together”, says Mantra on receiving the award
Rat in the Kitchen is directed by Arkish Aftab and produced by Afroz Khan and Purvi Khan of Orange Elephant Productions. The film’s cast includes Mantra and Aishwarya Desai.
Director Arkish Aftab who has also written the film, shared, “I stumbled upon a bizarre news article on quora a few years ago. The content of the article was so unbelievable, it inspired me to create a screenplay around it. The consequences of leading an extremely negligent life and the toll it may take upon you is the overarching theme in the film.”
