Millennials today are smarter and aware of what they want from their life partner: Rupal Patel
StarPlus’ Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, a show with a progressive storyline, is a millennial take on relationships and marriage and has taken a step further by addressing the topic of marital courtship.
The ongoing track showcases how Meenakshi (Rupal Patel) has finally agreed to Mishti’s demand of marital courtship, but seems to have a hidden agenda for her.
While Meenakshi as the head of the Rajvanshi family wants the best for them and is highly protective of them, comes in constant clash with the young generation in her family.
Playing a strong-headed matriarch on the show, actress Rupal Patel has a more refreshing take on the topic in real life.
The actress reveals, “Millennials today are smarter and aware of what they want from their life partner. Especially youngsters like Mishti want to get to know their life partner before getting into a bigger commitment like marriage.
It is high time that a topic like marital courtship has been addressed on a television show and is brought to light by showcasing both old and young mindsets.
While Meenakshi is shown to have opposing viewpoints on the topic, she is not only harrowed, but also can’t fathom the idea of two people getting to know each other before marriage. As opposed to my on-screen character, I think it is a topic of today’s day and age and it is significant that we as actors play our part in helping it reach our audiences.”
