Tamannaah on Studying the Relevance of Chhath for Chhathi Maiya Song from The Vvaan: I spent time studying and understanding the significance of the ritual

The cultural relevance and traditional significance of Chhath is brought to life in its full glory in Chhathi Maiya song from The Vvaan. With Tamannaah at the front and centre of it, Chhathi Maiya is a devotional and spiritual track that taps into the cultural core and traditional world of the film, offering a new window into its folklore, fantasy and romantic realm.

As Chhath makes one of the prominent parts of The Vvaan, Tamannaah wanted to leave no stone unturned in bringing absolute justification to it. From understanding the significance of Chhath to feeling a strong connection with Chhathi Maiya, Tamannaah opens up about her spiritual journey for the song.

“I have always held a deep reverence for Chhath Puja. Before we started shooting for the song, I spent time studying and understanding the significance of the ritual and how it is performed in Bihar and Patna. Honestly, I was stunned to learn the power it holds. The strong connection I felt with Chhathi Maiyya is something I cannot put in words. I found myself feeling deeply connected to her. Chhath Puja is one of the most important factors of The Vvaan, and I wouldn’t have wanted to experience the ritual in any other way,” she says.

Chhath Pooja sits within the larger folklore-fantasy adventure of the film, and Chhathi Maiya song has now expanded its world manifold, offering viewers a broader peek into the film’s fantastical world. Under the music label of Zee Music, Chhathi Maiya is brought to life through singer and composer Vishal Mishra, with lyrics penned by Kaushal Kishore and performance choreographed by Chinni Prakash.

Backed by some of the country’s most distinctive storytellers, The Vvaan brings together TVF’s Arunabh Kumar, director Deepak Mishra and Ektaa Kapoor for a commercial film that takes Indian folklore into a new cinematic space. While its world is rooted in folklore and fantasy, the film brings together adventure, mystery and humour to shape itself as a complete family entertainer. The ambition extends beyond the film, with The Legend of Vvaan comic book already introducing audiences to the larger folklore surrounding its universe.

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, The Vvaan stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. Written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, with Manu Anand as DOP and Visual Director, the film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari.

The Vvaan arrives in cinemas on September 25, 2026, promising a big-screen fantasy folklore experience where visuals, music, mystery, romance and scale come together to create a world audiences will want to step into.
