For Seerat Kapoor, Jade is more than a beautiful home in the hills. It is a dream rooted in nature, creativity and family — a space designed to slow life down and bring the people and things she loves closer together.

In an exclusive interview, Seerat opens up about her Lonavala villa and the thought, emotion and family memories that shaped Jade into what it is today.

Set against Lonavala’s lush landscape, the five-bedroom villa was conceived around Seerat’s desire to reconnect with nature. Open spaces, abundant natural light, greenery, private balconies and a large terrace allow the surrounding landscape to become an integral part of everyday life.

“It was always my dream to connect through nature,” Seerat says. “Every corner of Jade has been designed with love and my entire family has been part of shaping it. Jade is not just a home; it’s our shared story.”

That sense of family is central to the villa’s identity. Alongside her mother, Neena Sihota Kapoor, and aunt, Reena Sihota Taneja, Seerat was passionately involved in shaping the interiors, aesthetic and overall atmosphere of the home, bringing her own sensibility for colour, texture and art into the space.

Neena and Reena, both former Air India air hostesses, travelled extensively across the world, immersing themselves in diverse cultures, architectural traditions and aesthetic sensibilities. Over the years, they thoughtfully curated exquisite artefacts, heirloom pieces and distinctive finds from across the world, many of which now have a place within Jade. These collected treasures, alongside the family’s existing furnishings and artworks, make the interiors feel rooted in memory, with each element carrying a sense of the family’s journeys and experiences.

Their experiences and design sensibility became part of the creative language of Jade, complementing Seerat’s own vision for the space. The architectural framework was developed by unTAG Architecture and Interiors, while the interiors bring together these personal collections with carefully considered materials, textures and details.

The result is a home that feels considered yet lived-in. Exposed brick, arched wooden doorways, checkerboard flooring, expansive windows and open courtyards bring together tropical modernism with an old-world Indian warmth. A central courtyard and cross-ventilated spaces further strengthen the relationship between the interiors and the natural surroundings.

Greenery is woven throughout the property rather than treated simply as a backdrop. Balconies, courtyards, terraces, open spaces and the pool create different moments to pause, unwind and experience the landscape.

Each room carries its own mood while remaining connected through earthy tones, natural materials and carefully considered details. The family’s furnishings, artworks and collected treasures add another layer of character, giving the villa a sense of history rather than making it feel newly assembled.
