Marital courtship is not a one-way street and either person has the freedom to say no at any point: Rhea Sharma
StarPlus’ Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke brings to the audiences a refreshing and progressive take on relationships, marriage and family ties.
While the show pioneered itself with the insightful thought that – ‘The right to choose a life partner is a deliberate decision which requires time’, the makers wanted to take it a step further by addressing the topic of marital courtship.
Playing a crucial role in talking about the topic, actress Rhea Sharma who plays the character of Mishti has similar thoughts as her character.
The actress reveals, “I feel happy to be associated with a show like Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke that showcases a progressive and insightful take on the topic of marital courtship through my character Mishti.
Marital courtship is a period where two people take their time to get to know each other before getting married. But it is not a one-way street and either person has the freedom to say no at any point.
While Mishti demands marital courtship before marrying Kunal (Ritvik Arora), elders in both the families are harrowed and confused. Through Mishti, I get a chance to portray the strong and confident girl who stands up to old mindsets and expresses her opinions on situations.
Viewers will see Mishti being the self-righteous and self-aware millennial while some unexpected twists and turns await her in the upcoming episodes.”
