Pia Bajpiee Revisits her School Days this Independence Day
With Independence Day rolling right up to our doorstep, many of us go down memory lane to revisit some of the feelings attached to this day. Pia Bajpiee shares her feelings about the big day “Independence Day is ofcourse close to all our hearts ever since I can remember as everyone around me really celebrated it with full spirit. The day India became free! It really holds importance to us all and 15th August will remain a great day for all Indians.”
As children, we may not have understood the real reason or the importance of Independence but we all looked forward to the festivities it brought with it. Pia narrates one such anecdote with us about her childhood. “I was always a girl who loved to participate in all kinds of programs and competitions so one Independence day, I was elected to recite the Vande Mataram in front of everyone. I was really excited and overjoyed for the opportunity. I practiced day and night and learned the right way of pronouncing the words and everything.
When the day arrived, i was a little nervous and reached the stage , started reciting the Vande Mataram. Right in the middle of it the funniest thing happened, I forgot the remaining lines! My face turned red with embarrassment but I tried to start all over again but couldn’t and burst into tears right there in front of all. My teacher then took to me to a corner and calmed me down. These are my best memories of the day.”
