Smart India Hackathon Hardware Edition Grand Finale at IIT Indore
IIT Indore hosted the All India Smart Hackathon Grand Finale Hardware Edition for the year 2019. The main objective of this hackathon is to provide opportunities to the budding engineers to bring innovate products and solutions for the different demands from the industries, R&D centres and the society.
IIT Indore hosted participants for two themes, Smart communication and Food technology. Around 10 teams from different part of the country comprising of 66 students including student mentors, were selected for this final round. Under Smart Communication the project includes:
- Smart glass for blind people
- Smart gloves for health monitoring
- Graphiktick smart slates for disable persons
- Silence box
Under Food Technology, the project includes:
- Automated sweet making machine
- Cryogenic grinding of spice
- Technology of reducing Heavy metal contamination in fish
- IOT based pesticide detection
- Automated Samosa making machine
- Automated Roti making machine
Each team has been provided with design mentors from Industries and R&D centres. Hackathon was scheduled for 5 days round the clock for realizing idea into product. IIT Indore made necessary arrangement for the transportation stay and food for all the participants, Juries and Guest.
The each team was provided with work bench with necessary tools and components for fabricating the products. In addition, IIT Indore opened its state of art facilities including high end metal and plastic 3-D printers, laser cutters, Advanced CNC systems, pneumatic training kits and state of the art workshop facilities to create final prototype.
IIT Indore provided a comfortable hospitality and work environment through out the event and encourage them to work round the clock.
In addition to this, Sports, Yoga session, movie screening were provided to the student, to create a conducive environment for the students. In order to motivate them , IIT Indore interactions with experts from industries, young entrepreneurs and scientist about the research and start up opportunities.
In order to build team sprint, carrom and chess tournaments were conducted in the evenings. The photographs of the day to day event was updated into the Institutes social media handles.
The Products were evaluated consistently on daily basis in four rounds by Jury panel. The Jury panel comprises of faculty members form IIT,IIM and scientist from RRCAT, DRDL, John Deere, Cyber Infrastructure, Swaha resource management, MHRD Innovation cell, AICTE and Senior faculty members from other reputed institutes.
After four rounds of rigorous evaluation, the following teams won the: First Prize for the product bBook, basically focuses on the smart way of printing Brail letter. MVJ College of Engineering, Bengaluru.
First Runner-up: Cryogenic grinding using less amount of liquid nitrogen and small space. Institute of Chemical Technology, Pune.
Second Runner-up: Smart glove with health monitoring and security, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Haryana.
Prof.Pradeep Mathur, Director of IIT Indore, Chief of the valedictory function distributed the prize to all the winners and encouraged the participants and wished for their success.
Dr.Venkateswaran, Senior President IOT solution and Mr. Nilesh Lele, President, Associate of Food scientist and technologist, Mumbai Chapter were the guest of Honour for the Valedictory event.
Team Student volunteer team and staff team of IIT Indore worked tirelessly, to make this event a grand success.
