“The Entertainment Industry is a Big Contributor to Travel and Tourism” – Deekshha Sonalkar Tham
Today, On September 27th, the world celebrates World Tourism Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of tourism and its impact on society. In light of this occasion, we caught up with the talented actress Deekshha Sonalkar Tham, known for her roles in popular shows like Bani – Ishq Da Kalma and Maharana Pratap. Currently portraying the character of Ishika in Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye, Deekshha shared her insights on the interplay between the entertainment industry and tourism. Deekshha believes that the entertainment industry significantly contributes to travel and tourism.
“The entertainment industry is a big contributor to travel and tourism. The way places are shot and portrayed on screen definitely motivates the audiences to visit those places. Even some destinations or properties invite filmmakers to shoot as a form of advertising their place. This, in turn, increases visibility and clientele for them.” She feels that audiences are indeed lured by picturesque views and often yearn to visit places featured in their favorite TV shows or movies. “
Of course. I think very few people knew about Corsica before Tamasha was shot there. Or for that matter, people now visit Croatia more after some locations have been used in Game of Thrones. The most famous being Switzerland after DDLJ!” Deekshha also shared her personal travel aspirations, revealing her desire to visit Verona, Italy, someday. “I really do want to visit Verona, Italy someday. I watched a movie called Letters to Juliet and wanted to visit the town where the famous love story of Romeo and Juliet was set. Although I had planned to go there last summer, my shoot schedules didn’t really permit. Hopefully next summer”, she concludes.
Deekshha’s insights remind us of the profound influence that entertainment can have on our desire to explore new destinations. Her passion for travel, inspired by the cinematic experiences she cherishes, encourages us all to step beyond our everyday lives and discover the beauty that awaits in places we’ve only seen on screen.
