Vaibhav Sharma on his movie I Am No Queen: “People are hating me!”
Actor Vaibhav Sharma, who plays the villain in the film I Am No Queen, is thrilled with the response he’s been receiving in Canada, where the international film has been released. He says that people are hating him for what his character does in the film, which he takes as a sign that he has portrayed his negative role effectively.
“I play the antagonist in the movie, so the feedback I’ve received is pretty good, as the audience hates me for what I did to Rani (the female lead) in the movie. As a villain, I believe I was able to do justice to my performance,” he says.
When asked about his best compliment, he shares, “This is an interesting one. After the movie, someone from the audience said, ‘Which person should I believe in: the Harry we saw on screen, who is such a manipulative and terrifying character, or Vaibhav, who is standing here with me right now and is such a warm person?’”
Discussing the possibility of an OTT release after the theatrical run, he says, “I believe the movie should reach as many people as possible. The message we’re delivering through this movie must be spread because it’s the brutal truth. I’m confident that after the theatrical release, OTT platforms will want to pick it up.”
He adds, “I believe audiences around the world are quite similar. Some have a deep understanding of cinema, while others simply seek entertainment. The best part is that in I Am No Queen, we’ve conveyed an important message in an entertaining, cinematic way.”
