“Haunted by secrets, bound by love” is the core theme of Zee Theatre’s latest teleplay ‘Peechha Karti Parchhaiyaan.’ Adapted by theatre, film, and music legend Illa Arun from Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen’s classic play ‘Ghosts’, ‘Peechha Karti Parchhaiyaan’ is directed for the stage by KK Raina who also stars in it. The teleplay will be dubbed into Telugu and Kannada. It locates the social and gender issues raised by ‘Ghosts’ in Rajasthan and tells the story of a woman who in the fight to protect toxic family secrets, pays a huge personal price. Ila Arun plays the central character in the play as conflicted matriarch Yashodhara along with KK Raina. The teleplay also stars Param Singh, Priyamvada Kant, and Vijay Kashyap.
The teleplay helmed by filming director Saurabh Shrivastava also depicts how generational issues end up impacting the present. The play was first performed in 2016 and has been staged successfully across India.
