experience the enchanting journey of the wild robot in theatres on october 18th
Mumbai, October 2024: Peter Brown’s beloved novel, The Wild Robot, a New York Times bestseller, is set to enchant audiences in an entirely new way. This heartwarming story has been transformed into a visually stunning animated film by Universal Pictures (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery) and directed by three-time Oscar nominee Chris Sanders. With an all-star cast featuring Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, Mark Hamill, and Stephanie Hsu, The Wild Robot is poised to become a cinematic masterpiece. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary adventure, coming to theaters across India on October 18th!
The Wild Robot follows the heartfelt journey of Roz, a robot accidentally stranded on a remote island. As Roz—short for ROZZUM Unit 7134—adjusts to her new environment, she discovers a goose egg and instinctively cares for the hatchling. Over time, she forges meaningful bonds with the island’s animals, evolving from a simple machine into a compassionate caretaker and trusted friend. Adding to the intrigue is Vontra, voiced by Academy Award® nominee Stephanie Hsu, a specialized administrative robot from Universal Dynamics. Though initially warm and upbeat, Vontra carries a subtle yet menacing undertone, tasked with making swift, decisive evaluations. Hsu’s expressive voice brings a human-like depth to Vontra, intensifying the story as it unfolds.
As Vontra leads the mission to retrieve Roz from the island, Roz’s defiance begins to challenge her strict approach, slowly unravelling Vontra’s once cheerful demeanour and gradually exposing her true nature. Reflecting on her character, Stephanie Hsu shares, “Vontra is like a futuristic version of Siri turned ultra-god,” She adds, “She’s very by the book and doesn’t go beyond the user manual. She’s so chipper that it’s unsettling, which was an interesting contrast to explore. But beyond my character, it’s really exciting to be part of a project with so much heart and to be part of such a talented team.”
The Wild Robot promises a captivating cinematic experience, seamlessly blending breathtaking animation with the touching journey of Roz, a robot whose story will leave a lasting impact. Meanwhile, Vontra’s intriguing and contrasting personality adds depth to the narrative. This is an adventure you won’t want to miss. Mark your calendars for October 18th and prepare for an unforgettable experience!
