Stories of Cancer Survivors Boost Morale, Doctors Deliver Life-Saving Messages

A Triumph of Hope on World Cancer Day in Indore

Indore, February 3, 2026: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, a special awareness and interaction program was organized at IOCL CHL114 (International Oncology Cancer Institute) in Indore. Cancer survivors from the city and surrounding areas shared their inspiring life journeys, proving that cancer can be overcome with timely treatment and strong willpower.

The main objective of the program was to dispel misconceptions about cancer prevalent in Indore and the Malwa region, emphasize the importance of timely diagnosis, and provide emotional support to patients and their families. The experiences shared by the cancer survivors moved the audience and filled them with hope and confidence.

Expert doctors explained that cancer is no longer an incurable disease. If detected in the early stages and treated promptly, the chances of complete recovery are significantly higher. The doctors appealed to the people of Indore not to delay testing if they experience any symptoms and to seek expert advice and begin treatment without fear.

Radiation oncologists Dr. Piyush Shukla, Dr. Ashish Malviya, and Dr. Priyanshu Tripathi stated that with the advent of modern radiation techniques, treatment is now more precise, safer, and has fewer side effects, allowing patients to return to normal life sooner. Cancer surgeons Dr. Nilesh Jain and Dr. Sunny Jain informed that minimally invasive surgical techniques such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery have made cancer surgery less painful, safer, and more effective. Medical oncologist Dr. Hemendra Mishra explained that along with chemotherapy, modern treatment methods like immunotherapy and targeted therapy are available today, playing a crucial role in cancer control. Doctors emphasized cancer prevention, stating that many types of cancer can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding addictions such as tobacco, smoking, and alcohol. They also stressed the need to increase the use of the HPV vaccine, which is available for the prevention of cervical cancer.

On this occasion, Mr. Nemichand Maru, Trustee of IOCI CHL114, said, “In a rapidly developing city like Indore, it is crucial that we are aware of cancer and take the right steps at the right time.”

Dr. Raunak Maru said, “The stories of cancer survivors send a message to society that knowledge and courage, not fear, are the greatest cure. IOCI CHL114 strives to ensure that every patient in Indore and the surrounding areas has access to modern and reliable cancer treatment.”

The program concluded with the felicitation of cancer survivors and a pledge to further strengthen cancer awareness in Indore.
