Over 200 Join HCG Cancer Centre Walkathon to Promote Cancer Awareness

Indore. With the aim of dispelling myths around cancer and encouraging timely screening, a walkathon was organised on World Cancer Day by HCG Cancer Centre. Around 200 people participated in the event, coming together to spread the message of awareness and early detection.

Doctors, hospital staff, college students, cancer survivors and their family members walked side by side in the walkathon. The clear message was that cancer is not something to fear, but something to be informed and alert about.

The walkathon began at HCG Cancer Centre and passed through LIG Square, Industry House and Palasia, before concluding back at the centre. Held in the morning hours, participants dressed in white, symbolising unity, hope and solidarity in the fight against cancer.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nitin Bamaniya, Chief Operating Officer of HCG Cancer Centre, Indore, said that awareness is power, early detection is protection and healthy habits are prevention. He added that hope remains the strongest force in the fight against cancer. “This World Cancer Day, the message is clear — choose life, choose health, choose hope,” he said.

Senior specialists including surgical oncologist Dr Nayan Gupta, Dr Saket Mittal, radiation oncologist Dr Amit, medical oncologist Dr Sunit Lokwani and consultant gynaecological surgical oncologist Dr Renu Sharma were present at the event. The doctors emphasised that early identification of symptoms, regular screening and accurate information are the strongest weapons against cancer.

Through the walkathon, organisers highlighted that the battle against cancer is not fought alone. When families, society and doctors walk together, hope and courage grow stronger. The event reinforced the message that awareness is the first and most important step towards prevention.
