I can resonate with Ahilyabai’s deep love for animals; I am fond of them too: Aditi Jaltare

Mumbai. Sony Entertainment Television’s period drama Punyashlok Ahilyabai depicts and celebrates the journey of Ahilyabai Holkar who overcame the barriers of a patriarchal society with the unwavering and unconditional support of her father-in-law, Malhar Rao Holkar.

Ahilyabai Holkar was an exceptional woman in more ways than one. While she was a great warrior and a visionary, she also had a warm heart and a nurturing spirit. Not many people know, but Ahilyabai Holkar adored animals and deeply cared for them.

The show also aims to throw light on these innocent and behavioral nuances of her personality that are otherwise unknown to us. Interestingly, child actor Aditi Jaltare who is seen essaying the character of Ahilyabai Holkar in the show, happens to be an animal lover, too. Even between shoots, Aditi is seen playing with strays on the sets and even feeds them with the food that she gets from home.

Talking about her love for animals, Aditi Jaltare said, “I was overjoyed when I learnt that Ahilyaji was also fond of animals. I felt a deep connection because I could really relate and resonate with her. In fact, my mother pointed out certain other similarities that I share with Ahilyabai.

I also ask a lot of questions and am inquisitive and eager to learn just like her. She indeed was a remarkable woman in all aspects. It’s truly an honour to embody the legendary Ahilyabai Holkar on screen.”
