Mountain Goat Concludes the 4th Edition of The Incredible North East & Nepal Expedition 2023 in Association with MG India and the Legendary MG Hector
· A 7,000-kilometer Cross-Country Odyssey Testing Man & Machine in the Heart of North-East India and Nepal
· Next Stop: India’s Biggest 4X4 Expo & Winter Expedition in Shimla
National, January 2024: Mountain Goat Expeditions successfully capped the 4th edition of The Incredible North East. The 19-day, 7,000 km cross-country endurance expedition tested man and machine in some of the planet’s most challenging landscapes and temperatures. Where SUVs travel on High-Speed Highways, Potholes, Traffic, Village Roads, Railway Crossings, Dusty Patched off-road through Rocks, Mud, Slush, Gravel, Water crossings and River beds to Black Ice sections on Higher passes. Seeing the MG Hector Cope along the Bigger 4×4 beasty trucks was a sight to behold.
Setting out from the vibrant core of Delhi, a fleet of 24 SUVs including 4 MG Hector among them, thundered northward, leaving the familiar behind in a trail of dust. Guwahati emerged as the ultimate gateway to the enchanting Northeast, guiding the convoy through Dirang, Tawang, Kaziranga, Shillong & Cherrapunji. The journey continued as the convoy ventured into Kathmandu, Pokhara and the heart-stopping “Valley of Shadows” in Lete Lower Mustang, Nepal – one of the most dangerous valleys on the planet.
From treacherous Himalayan ice to the scorching plains, the cross-country expedition was a crucible for both man and machine. The convoy of 24 SUVs, piloted by 60 petrol heads, conquered everything along the way- mud, slush, off-road trails, and temperatures swinging wildly between +30°C and -6°C. The convoy pushed through unforgiving trails that snaked between side inclines exceeding 45 degrees and seemingly insurmountable steep hill ascents and descents.
At the helm of this dance stood the MG Hector, the 4×2 beast that proved its mettle with every challenging turn. It wasn’t just muscle, though. Advanced tech and unwavering performance made the Hector the ultimate cross-country companion, seamlessly adapting to the ever-shifting terrain and weather. Despite the extreme conditions, its exceptional off-road capabilities and cutting-edge technology shone through, exemplifying its unmatched performance and reliability on and off-road.
Recognizing the inherent risks, the Mountain Goat team prioritized safety with a team of 4×4 specialists who shadowed the convoy, ever-present throughout the journey, ensuring prompt and effective intervention in case of any unforeseen situations.
Shashwat Gupta, Founder Mountain Goat on the successful homecoming of the convoy,”7,000 kilometers of uncharted asphalt – that’s how we roll at Mountain Goat. This journey wasn’t about ticking off sights; it was about pushing boundaries, both ours and the machines. Every turn brought a new challenge; the weather whipped us from balmy to bone-chilling, and landscapes morphed from concrete jungles to forgotten mountain passes. But every challenge fuelled our adrenaline, every landmark etched a memory. For petrolheads like us, that’s what true living feels like!”
Suraj Tayal, Founder Mountain Goat adds, “Our expeditions are about pushing boundaries, yes, but also about sharing that thrill with kindred spirits. More than tarmac tires meeting foreign lands, this 4×4 odyssey was a sensory feast for petrolheads. We ventured beyond the tourist trail; as they say- the most breathtaking sights aren’t on postcards, but in the faces of people you meet along the way. It is the beating heart of the places we are passionate about and revealing its treasures. This is what we plan for our upcoming Winter Expedition, too.”
With tires still smoking from the epic North East + Nepal adventure, Mountain Goat Expeditions is revving up for India’s Biggest 4X4 and Adventure Expo & 11th Winter Expedition from February 16th to 24th, 2024 in Shimla.
