Before Munna Bhaiyya & Compounder, They Were College Bros: Abhishek Banerjee & Divyenndu’s 23-Year-Old Bond Comes Full Circle

Divyenndu and Abhishek Banerjee are creating pure bhaukaal as the unflinching duo, Munna Bhaiyya and Compounder, in the recently released, Mirzapur: The Movie. As the gangster drama continues to win hearts while hitting gold at the box office, Banerjee took a moment to reflect on his longstanding friendship with Divyenndu, recalling their journey from college days to the big screens.

“Bhaukaling since 2003,” he states simply and continues, “23 years in the making. Kirori Mal College, 2003. Players theatre group. Two boys from the same city, chasing the same dream, both a little paglu for a certain big B. The College senior who taught me more about acting than any classroom did. The world knows him as Munna Bhaiya. I’ve known him since before this bhaukaal existed as Divyendu, my friend, my teacher, my partner in crime on that campus.”

“Two decades later, life’s brought us back to share a screen and this time, it’s Mirzapur and yesss we have hit a century. Truly magical and almost a tale of fiction,” he writes in his latest post, dropping a savage still with Divyenndu from Mirzapur: The Movie.

With this gangster drama, Banerjee has added another blockbuster to his list of hits, also making a solid addition of another hit franchise after Stree and Dream Girl.

Meanwhile, Mirzapur: The Movie has already entered Rs.100 crore club and is continuing its successful theatrical run. Considering that the film is winning hearts, the box office collections are expected to multiply manifold in the coming days.
