Early Detection Can Make Even Lung Cancer Treatable: Experts at Bronchopulmonary World Congress 2026
Indore, July 4, 2026: The main conference of the 4th Bronchopulmonary World Congress 2026 commenced on Saturday at the Brilliant Convention Centre. The conference brought together pulmonologists, critical care specialists, thoracic surgeons, medical researchers, and young physicians from India and abroad. On the opening day, experts shared their experiences on modern treatment approaches, recent research, and advanced technologies for managing lung diseases. More than 700 participants have registered for the conference.
The first day featured scientific sessions covering Pulmonary Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Thoracic Surgery, and Respiratory Research. National and international experts discussed the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of complex lung diseases, highlighting modern technologies and sharing valuable clinical experiences. The conference was formally inaugurated at 7:00 PM by Mr. Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman of the Index Group, along with Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Dr. Atul C. Mehta.
More than 100 postgraduate students from respiratory medicine departments across various states of India presented their research papers during the conference. Additionally, over 30 teams participated in the postgraduate quiz competition, demonstrating their academic knowledge and clinical expertise. Through research paper presentations, poster sessions, clinical case discussions, and scientific interactions, young doctors had the opportunity to learn from senior experts and showcase their research.
The conference featured an esteemed international faculty comprising experts from various Indian states as well as the United States, the United Kingdom, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Maldives, and other countries. Distinguished physicians, including Padma Shri awardees and senior medical professionals, addressed multiple scientific sessions. During the event, Dr. Atul C. Mehta, internationally recognized for his contributions to pulmonology in the United States, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Experts also held extensive discussions on the role of Artificial Intelligence, advanced diagnostic technologies, interventional procedures, and patient-centric treatment approaches in the management of lung diseases.
The Organizing Secretary of the conference, Prof. Dr. Ravi Dosi, said, “Changing lifestyles, increasing air pollution, smoking, environmental pollution, infections, and allergies are becoming the leading causes of lung diseases. Cases of asthma, COPD, lung infections, and lung cancer are rising steadily. Experts emphasized that timely screening, early diagnosis, and modern treatment can effectively control these diseases. If symptoms are recognized early and appropriate treatment is initiated promptly, even serious illnesses such as cancer can be successfully treated. Avoiding smoking, maintaining a clean environment, exercising regularly, following a balanced diet, getting vaccinated, and consulting a specialist whenever required are essential for maintaining healthy lungs.”
Dr. Dosi further stated, “The scientific sessions on the first day witnessed enthusiastic participation from both experts and delegates. The discussions across various topics provided physicians with valuable insights into the latest scientific developments and modern treatment practices. Timely diagnosis and evidence-based treatment of post-COVID respiratory complications, post-tuberculosis lung damage, and serious conditions such as pulmonary hypertension are the need of the hour. Innovations in bronchoscopy and navigation technologies are also playing a crucial role in the accurate diagnosis of lung diseases. A large number of postgraduate students presented their research and participated enthusiastically in the quiz competition. Such conferences provide a strong platform for advancing medical education, promoting research, and improving patient care.”
He added that the second day of the conference will feature additional scientific sessions, clinical case discussions, expert lectures, and research presentations, where leading national and international specialists will share the latest research findings and clinical experiences related to the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases.
