From Ambience to Welcome To The Jungle: 5 films that set record for the longest trailer length
A film’s trailer always plays a very important role. After all its the very first peek into the cinematic world of a film. Usually, the sneak peek is barely for 2 minutes and a few seconds, but there have been instances and films that didn’t hesitate to get generous with their film trailers and gave the audiences a better first look at their film’s world.
Here are 5 movies which broke the record with the longest trailers in cinematic history…
- Ambience (7 Hours, 20 Minutes)
Yes, you read that correctly. Swedish filmmaker Anders Weberg created an experimental film called Ambience that was 720 hours long. In 2016, Weberg released a “short trailer” that clocked in at 7 hours and 20 minutes—all filmed in a single, continuous, dialogue-free take on a beach.
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (8 Minutes, 6 Seconds)
When David Fincher tackles a project, he doesn’t compromise. To build hype for his pitch-black, brilliant 2011 adaptation, Sony released an “extended character profile” trailer that ran over eight minutes long. Instead of just flashing quick jump-scares and explosions, Fincher used the luxury of time to let the cold, tense atmosphere sink into the audience’s bones, treating the trailer like a standalone short film.
- Singham Again (4 Minutes, 58 Seconds)
Rohit Shetty’s cop universe is famously loud, grand, and unapologetically massive. For Singham Again, the creators decided that a standard teaser simply couldn’t hold the sheer amount of star power and explosive action they had cooked up. Clocking in at just 2 seconds under five minutes, this trailer felt like a mini-epic, laying out high-stakes family drama, flying cars, and intense monologues before the movie even hit theaters.
- Welcome To The Jungle (4 Minutes, 10 Seconds)
When you have a massive ensemble cast featuring what feels like half of Bollywood, a two-minute trailer just turns into a blur of faces. Welcome To The Jungle took its time—four minutes and ten seconds, to be exact—to introduce its chaotic world, massive musical numbers, and a sprawling cast of characters. It’s a preview that gives you a full workout just keeping track of everyone on screen.
- Dhurandhar (4 Minutes, 8 Seconds)
Rounding out our list is Dhurandhar, another textbook example of a film trying to pack heavy narrative weight into its opening pitch. At over four minutes, the trailer demands a genuine commitment from the viewer. It’s proof that sometimes, filmmakers simply have too much story to tell to be bound by a 120-second timer.
Which trailer from these are you yet to watch?
