Kunal Kapoor Calls Ramayana Co-star Ranbir Kapoor the “Perfect Choice” to Play Lord Ram, Describes Namit Malhotra as a “Visionary”

Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana is undoubtedly one of the biggest upcoming releases of the year, bringing together some of the finest actors from Indian cinema. Kunal Kapoor, who steps into the shoes of Lord Indra, calls co-star Ranbir Kapoor the “perfect choice” for portraying Lord Ram in Ramayana. Further, he also shares his admiration for Namit Malhotra’s confident vision of bringing the opulent spectacle to the big screen.

“Ranbir is the perfect choice,” says Kunal. “Shree Ram is the hardest kind of role because you can’t perform him, you have to be him. It needs stillness, grace, an actor who can say everything while doing almost nothing. Very few people can hold a frame that quietly. Ranbir can,” he expresses, admiring the Rockstar actor.

Describing Namit Malhotra as a “visionary,” Kunal Kapoor says, “I’ve been in this industry 25 years, and I’ve rarely seen anyone bring this much passion and love to a project. The time and resources he’s poured into this are unreal. This isn’t a film for him. It’s a mission.”

The newly released trailer of Ramayana offers audiences a glimpse into Kunal Kapoor’s first look as Lord Indra, the King of Devas in Hindu mythology. Clad in solid metal armour and arriving on his vaahan, Airavata, the majestic white elephant, Kunal Kapoor embodies the grandeur and authority associated with the celestial king. With his first look now unveiled, audiences are eagerly awaiting more glimpses of the actor’s portrayal and the spectacular world the film promises to bring to life.

Ramayana is gearing up for its theatrical release on November 5.
