Tamannaah Bhatia Brings Jayashree’s Legacy Alive in Upcoming Biographical Drama V. Shantaram Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi
Tamannaah Bhatia and Siddhant Chaturvedi come together for the first time in V. Shantaram, a sweeping biographical drama that traces the life and influence of one of Indian cinema’s most visionary filmmakers. The fresh pairing has already sparked interest, with the makers unveiling Tamannaah’s first-look poster shortly after Siddhant’s reveal as the auteur himself.
Tamannaah steps into the role of Jayashree, the accomplished actress who played a muse, a confidante and creative collaborator in Shantaram’s life and creative evolution. Draped in a soft pink Nauvari saree, she channels the elegance of Jayashree, who is remembered for memorable performances in Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani, Shakuntala, Chandra Rao More and Dahej. More than just Shantaram’s second wife, Jayashree was a collaborator whose presence shaped many of his landmark cinema choices.
Opposite her, Siddhant Chaturvedi takes on the challenge of portraying V. Shantaram the trailblazer behind Prabhat Film Company and Rajkamal Kalamandir, and the creative force responsible for classics such as Duniya Na Mane, Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje and Navrang. His journey from the silent era to becoming one of India’s most influential filmmakers stands at the heart of this film.
Together, Siddhant and Tamannaah bring a new-age energy to the story of a partnership that shaped some of Indian cinema’s most enduring ideas. Siddhant stepping into the mind of a visionary, and Tamannaah capturing the grace of the woman who stood beside him and saw his dreams to life is expected to be a thrill to watch.
Written and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, V. Shantaram is presented by Rajkamal Entertainment, Camera Take Films and Roaring Rivers Productions, with Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhash Kale and Sarita Ashwin Varde producing.
With Siddhant and Tamannaah leading the narrative, the film promises not just a retelling of a legend’s life, but also a portrayal of the relationship that helped shape an era of Indian cinema.
