Composed and sung by Thomson Andrews, with music by Adroit and lyrics by Anushree Gupta, the song also carries a global visual identity. Its upcoming music video was shot entirely in Amsterdam, bringing together the emotional world of an Indian romantic song with an international backdrop.

Speaking about the song and what it represents for him, Thomson Andrews says, “Taking India to the world and bringing the world to India has always been one of my missions as a proud Indian artist. I have always believed that music does not really need a passport. An emotion can begin in one part of the world and still find a home in another. ‘Koi Aisi Yaar Bane’ came from that thought. It is an Indian song, created by Indian artists, but the emotion at its heart is something everyone can understand — finding that person who becomes your friend, your confidant, your companion and eventually someone who holds a very special place in your life.”

He adds, “Shooting the music video in Amsterdam made the experience even more meaningful for me. It was something I had wanted to explore as an independent artist — to take an original song from India and give it a visual world that feels international without losing the emotion and identity of where it comes from. Amsterdam gave us a beautiful canvas to tell that story. For me, this is what independent music should be about — creating freely, experimenting, collaborating with talented people and allowing a song to travel wherever the listener takes it.”

The release also arrives at an interesting phase in Thomson’s musical journey. While he continues to develop his identity as an independent artist, his work spans Bollywood, advertising, live performance, composition and vocal arrangement. He has also recently collaborated with Pritam on the upcoming Bollywood film Haiwaan, contributing as a vocal arranger and English lyricist.
