Shakti Kapoor and Chunky Pandey’s filmy journey, reminisced on India’s Best Dancer!

Sony Entertainment Television’s India’s Best Dancer is currently the most popular show on the small screen circuit. This weekend, the show will celebrate Comedy Special and extend a warm welcome to the veterans – Shakti Kapoor and Chunky Pandey, who are known for their comic timing. 

The two actors, who have played legendary characters in the movies, had a fun time on the sets. They appreciated all the contestants for their phenomenal talent and interesting themes in their acts. They were particularly impressed with Contestant RutujaJunnarkar and Choreographer Vaibhav’s dance act on the song Main TeraTota, from Chunky’s film – Paap Ki Duniya.

Chunky said, “Mama Mia! It was like flashback for me. Shakti Kapoor was also part of the film. The way you guys performed was outstanding. I wish Neelam and I would have performed the way both of you did. Vaibhav, I also loved your Aakhri Pasta improvisation.”

After contestant RutujaJunnarkar’s amazing performance, Chunky Pandey shared insights about how he forayed in the industry and bagged films in his initial days and the support he received from Shakti Kapoor.

Shakti Kapoor, who has popularised numerous characters on screen, revealed that he did around 40 films with Chunky Pandey. Chunky shared, “Shaktiji used to get me films when we went to parties, he also helped me get some token amount, too, for the films.”

Listening to this, Shakti Kapoor shared an incident, “Chunky did his first film with me ‘Aag Hi Aag’ and I was very impressed with him as he was very good looking, he is still. That party was at a hotel and at first, I held Chunky’s hand and took him to RakeshRoshan (Guddu sir) and told him that if he doesn’t sign him, he would lose the opportunity as he is a future superstar.

I literally took him to about 25 producers and directors, everyone gave about Rs. 500, Rs.1000, Rs. 1500 as his signing amount. After leaving the party, I took 20% of the amount (Laughs!).” Chunky collected so much of signing amount that he bought a car with it. 

Shakti further said that he found Bharti and Haarsh very adorable, he blessed them and said that they deserved each other.
