Saif Ali Khan’s Instagram post gets a dose of father-son fun as Ibrahim asks, “Is this you Abba?”
Saif Ali Khan has finally arrived on Instagram, and if his first few moves on the platform are anything to go by, he has understood the assignment. First, he has been trending for following just one person and that’s his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan. Then, he found himself in a playful exchange with son Ibrahim Ali Khan. Not a bad start for someone who has long preferred to keep social media at arm’s length.
Saif’s debut post offered a peek into the Pataudi Library. But it was the comments section that delivered the family entertainment. Ibrahim dropped by with a question for his father: “Is this you abba no na?” Saif could have simply confirmed his identity. Instead, he decided to take a trip back to May 2008, replying, “@iak Is that you in May 2008?” and attaching a photograph of Ibrahim as a little boy, with Saif standing behind him.
In the space of one comment, the conversation went from identifying Abba to revisiting baby Ibrahim. Somewhere in the Pataudi archives, it appears, there is a photograph for every occasion.
Meanwhile, Saif’s decision to follow Kareena first has been catching attention online. Given that Kareena has spent years sharing glimpses of their family life with her followers, it is rather sweet to see Saif make his Instagram entrance with his wife as his first follow. The follow button did the talking.
For a man who has previously admitted to enjoying the peace and quiet of staying off social media, Saif seems to be easing into Instagram quite comfortably. His first post gave followers a look at his world; his exchange with Ibrahim gave them a little of the family banter that comes with it. And Ibrahim may have thought he was simply dropping a question into his father’s comments section. Little did he know that Abba was ready with an 18-year-old comeback. Welcome to Instagram, Saif. The family group chat, it seems, has gone public.
