The 3rd National Hip Course and INDOCON 2026 begins, over 100 delegates participate in cadaveric training for the first time at IRCAD Centre
Indore, January 23, 2026: The 3rd National Hip Course and INDOCON 2026 began today with an advanced cadaveric workshop at the IRCAD Centre, where more than 100 delegates from across the country participated—marking the largest cadaver-based hip surgery training ever held in Indore. The opening session of the three-day conference focused on modern hip surgery, trauma care, and emerging surgical technologies. This year, the event has been specially designed for young orthopaedic surgeons, resident doctors, and joint replacement trainees, enabling them to understand hip preservation, revision arthroplasty, and minimally invasive techniques through hands-on experience on real anatomical specimens. AI-based pre-operative planning, 3D modelling, and image-based surgical techniques have also been integrated into the course this year. Their practical application began on Day 1 itself, where participants observed demonstrations using modern navigation systems and advanced approaches on actual anatomical structures.
For the first time, INDOCON hosted cadaveric sessions on such a large scale, greatly strengthened by the presence of international faculty. Dr Ajay Malviya from England and Dr Yoon from South Korea shared their expertise on hip arthroscopy, minimally invasive procedures, and complex hip surgeries. Participants also witnessed real-time demonstrations of advanced instruments, modern approaches, and safe surgical protocols. According to experts, cadaveric training significantly improves the confidence and surgical accuracy of young surgeons, directly benefiting patient outcomes and safety.
Conference Organising Chairman Dr Hemant Mandovra said, “On the very first day of INDOCON, the participation and shared insights of experts from England and South Korea proved that India today stands at par with global medical standards. Training modules like cadaveric surgery, 3D modelling, AI-based pre-operative planning, and advanced hip techniques clearly show how we are adopting new technology just like our global counterparts and advancing medical science. Such platforms not only prepare young surgeons but also open better treatment pathways for patients across Central India.”
One of the highlights of Day 1 was a live demonstration of hip preservation arthroscopy, presented jointly by international expert Dr Ajay Malviya and Indore’s young orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Arjun Jain. The session covered detailed internal structures of the hip joint, labral repair, and correction of cam and pincer lesions through modern arthroscopic techniques. Both experts explained how hip preservation approaches will be highly beneficial for young patients in the coming years, as they help protect the natural joint while reducing pain and complications. Participants described the session as highly informative and practically valuable.
Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sushrut Babhulkar observed, “Organising cadaveric training of this scale in Indore is a major achievement. The large participation of young surgeons clearly shows their commitment to learning advanced hip surgery techniques. This training will significantly improve clinical outcomes in the future and directly benefit patients.”
This year’s conference includes major focus areas such as hip preservation, revision arthroplasty, complex trauma, and AI-based pre-operative planning. Scientific sessions will be held on January 24 and 25 at Brilliant Convention Centre, where national and international experts will discuss the latest surgical technologies, case-based discussions, and research-driven innovations. The theme for this year, “Everything Around Hip”, covers all major aspects related to hip surgery and care.
The strong participation on Day 1, along with international expertise, indicates that INDOCON 2026 is set to establish new benchmarks in technology, training, and collaborative medical advancement.
