Vidhatri Bandi Shares a Golden Memory from Her Acting Journey! Recalls Performing for Jennifer Aniston & How it Fueled Her Belief in Acting

Vidhatri Bandi recalls one of the moments in her acting journey that she will always cherish, a moment when FRIENDS’ iconic actress Jennifer Aniston was invited as a special guest for a masterclass, and among 45 students, she was one of the chosen students to perform scenes for her, also the youngest and the only Indian in her batch. “I was picked to perform a scene for her by my professors Andrea Bandewald & Nikki Deloach out of 45 people in class,” she says.

“I remember how overwhelming it felt knowing I had to go first. There’s a different kind of pressure when you’re the one who has to set the tone, to walk into a room full of people and be the first person to take that leap. And then I looked up and saw Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green?!) sitting there. Someone I had grown up watching is now watching me. For a few seconds, it felt almost impossible to process. But I took a breath, reminded myself why I was there, and started. And the moment I said my first line, everything else just disappeared. It was surreal,” she shares.

Vidhatri recalls receiving notes from Aniston, who also appreciated her work and extended a hug. For Vidhatri, the moment was beyond just performing for Jennifer Aniston; it was also about what it represented to her. “Just four months earlier, I was questioning everything. Was acting really for me? Would I ever make it in this industry? Was I good enough? Pretty enough? Did I have what it takes? Like so many actors, I was carrying a hundred insecurities and a hundred unanswered questions. And then four months later, I was sitting in Los Angeles, at UCLA, chosen out of 45 students to perform a scene for Jennifer Aniston,” she explains.

Vidhatri shares that it was that moment that made her realise that sometimes “life gives you an answer before you even realise you were looking for one,” she says and continues, “Honestly, I don’t think any award, accolade, or external validation could ever replace what that moment gave me. It gave me something much more valuable: the confidence to believe that I belonged here, and the courage to keep going.”

And it was in that moment that made Vidhatri stop asking herself – Could I do this? – but rather started believing that she indeed can!
